Joining a Ripple

There are several ways to join a Ripple, depending on how the creator has set up access.

Via Direct Link

The most common way to join. The creator shares a link like rippily.com/wave/community-name/my-ripple. Click the link and you'll be asked to enter a display name before joining.

If you're already signed in to Rippily, your profile name is used automatically.

Via Guest Pass

Some Waves allow guests to self-register using a guest pass link. These links look like rippily.com/wave/community-name?guestpass=CODE. When you open this link, you'll be asked to provide your email and display name. Once registered, you can access the Ripple.

Guest passes may have usage limits or expiration dates set by the creator. When a pass has an expiration, your access is time-limited and expires on the same date as the pass.

Via Wave Membership

If you're a member of a Wave, you can join any of its Ripples directly from the Wave page. Navigate to the Wave, browse its Ripples, and click to join.

The Join Flow

When you join a Ripple:

  1. Display name — enter your name (or use your account name if signed in)
  2. Seat assignment — you'll be placed in an available Drop (seat). If all seats are full, you may join the gallery area.
  3. Locked rooms — if the Ripple is locked, you'll enter a waiting room. The host will be notified and can admit or deny you.

Starring a Ripple

While you're inside a Ripple, tap the star icon to add it to your Starred section on the Home tab. On desktop it's in the top bar next to the Ripple name; on mobile it's in the header (portrait) or sidebar (landscape). This makes it easy to jump back to Ripples you visit often.

Access Policies

Waves can have different join policies:

  • Open — anyone with the link can join instantly
  • Approval required — you'll need to request to join and wait for an administrator to approve your request
