Exploring Communities
The Discovery Tab
The Discovery tab on your dashboard is where you discover communities and live sessions across Rippily. It has two sections:
Happening Right Now
At the top, you'll see Ripples that are currently live — sessions with active participants. Each card shows the Ripple name, the Wave it belongs to, and a live participant count. Click any card to join the session directly.
Communities to Explore
Below the live sessions, you'll find listed Waves from across the platform. Each Wave card shows its name, description, cover image, category, member count, and access mode.
Search and Filters
Use the controls above the community listings to narrow your results:
- Search — type at least 2 characters to search Wave names and descriptions
- Category filter — click a category chip (Creative, Business, Learning, Social, Entertainment, or Wellness) to show only Waves in that category. Click All to clear the filter.
Sorting
Use the sort dropdown to order results by:
| Sort Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Most active | Waves with the most recent participant activity |
| Trending | Waves gaining traction recently |
| Most members | Waves with the largest communities |
| Newest | Most recently created Waves |
Access Badges
Each Wave card shows an access badge so you know what to expect:
- Open — you can join immediately
- Approval Required — the creator reviews join requests before granting access
Waves you've already joined show a Joined badge. Your own Waves show a Yours badge.
Starring from Discovery
Each Wave card in Discovery has a star icon. Click it to add the Wave to your Starred section on the Home tab. Starred items appear as pinned cards for quick access whenever you sign in.
Joining from Discovery
Click a Wave card to visit its storefront page. From there:
- Open Waves — click Join Community to become a member instantly
- Protected Waves — click Request to Join to send a join request to the Wave's admin
Once you're a member, the Wave appears on your Home tab and you can access its Ripples any time.
Getting Your Wave Listed
If you're a creator, you can list your Wave in Discovery so others can find it. Toggle Listed in Wave Settings → Visibility. Discovery listing requires a paid plan (Starter or above).
