Creating a Wave
Creating a New Wave
To create a Wave, go to the Studio tab on your dashboard and click Create a Wave.
You'll need to provide:
Name
Choose a name that describes your community. This is what members see when they join or browse Discovery. You can change it later.
Description
A short summary of what your Wave is about. This appears on your Wave's page and in Discovery listings. Keep it clear and inviting — a sentence or two is usually enough.
Category
Pick the category that best fits your community:
| Category | Best for |
|---|---|
| Creative | Art, design, music, content creation |
| Business | Teams, clients, professional communities |
| Learning | Courses, workshops, study groups |
| Social | Friend groups, interest-based communities |
| Entertainment | Gaming, watch parties, fan communities |
| Wellness | Fitness, meditation, support groups |
Your category helps people discover your Wave when browsing Rippily.
Cover Image
Upload a cover image to give your Wave visual identity. This appears at the top of your Wave page and in Discovery cards. If you don't upload one, Rippily uses a default.
After Creating
Once your Wave exists, you can:
- Set a join policy — open or approval-based
- Invite members — share invite links
- Configure permissions — customise what each role can do
- Create Ripples — add interactive spaces to your Wave
