Blocking Users
What Blocking Does
When you block someone on Rippily, they can no longer:
- Send you friend requests
- Send you direct messages
Blocking is silent — the other person is not notified that you've blocked them.
How to Block Someone
You can block a user from several places:
- Their profile
- A DM conversation
- The participants list in a Ripple
Viewing Your Blocked List
Go to Settings → Blocked Users to see everyone you've blocked. The list shows their display name and tagname.
Unblocking
To unblock someone, find them in your blocked list and click Unblock. This immediately restores their ability to send you friend requests and messages.
Note that unblocking does not automatically restore a previous friendship. If you were friends before blocking, you or they will need to send a new friend request.
Important Notes
- Blocking only affects social features (friend requests and DMs). If you're both in the same Ripple, you'll still be able to see and hear each other as participants.
- If someone is being disruptive in a Ripple, the Ripple's moderators or the Wave owner can kick or ban them. Blocking is a personal action; moderation is a community action.
- Wave-level bans are separate from personal blocks. A Wave ban prevents someone from accessing any Ripple in that Wave.
