Cancellation & Pausing
Cancelling Your Subscription
When you cancel your subscription:
- Access continues until the end of your current billing period
- No further charges are made
- When your period ends, your account moves to the Free plan
- Content exceeding Free plan limits is paused (not deleted)
You can cancel from Account > Billing by choosing "Cancel subscription."
Cancellation Reasons
During cancellation, we ask for a quick reason. Depending on your answer, we may offer a pause option instead -- which keeps your content accessible while pausing billing.
Pausing Your Subscription
If you select a pause-eligible reason (like "too expensive" or "not using it enough"), you'll see an option to pause instead of cancel:
- Billing pauses for 3 months -- no charges during this time
- Content stays accessible -- your rooms, communities, and settings are unchanged
- Billing resumes automatically after 3 months at the same plan and price
Pausing is ideal if you plan to return but need a break from billing.
Reactivating After Cancellation
If you cancelled but haven't reached the end of your billing period:
- Go to Account > Billing
- Click Reactivate subscription
- Your subscription continues as if nothing happened -- no re-enrollment, same price
You'll see a banner on your dashboard when your subscription is pending cancellation, with a quick link to reactivate.
What Happens to Your Content
During cancellation period (before period ends)
- Everything works normally -- all features, all content accessible
- You can reactivate at any time
After cancellation completes
- Your account moves to the Free plan
- Excess content is paused in LIFO order (newest first)
- You have a 2-day correction window to choose which content stays active
- Paused content is preserved indefinitely -- it's never deleted
- Upgrade at any time to reactivate everything
Paused Content
"Paused" means the content still exists but is not accessible to participants:
- Paused rooms cannot be entered or edited
- Paused communities are hidden from members and visitors
- Paused content is marked with an amber Paused badge on your dashboard
- Content that has been paused for more than 2 days is locked in place -- you can only reactivate it by upgrading
To learn more, see the section on the correction window in Billing & Plans.
Payment Failures
If a payment fails (e.g., expired card):
- Your subscription enters a past due state
- A warning banner appears on your dashboard and billing page
- You have time to update your payment method before the subscription is suspended
- Update your card at Account > Billing to resolve the issue immediately
