Profile Settings
Display Name
Your display name is what other participants see when you're in a Ripple. You can change it at any time from your Account page.
This doesn't need to be unique — it's just for display. Your tagname (below) is your unique identifier.
Avatar
Your profile picture appears next to your name in Ripples, chat messages, and member lists.
Upload Options
- Custom upload — JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF (max 5MB)
- Google import — if you signed in with Google, you can use your Google profile picture
- Generated fallback — if you don't upload anything, Rippily generates a unique avatar from your name
You can change your avatar at any time. The new image appears across all your Waves and Ripples immediately.
Tagname
Your tagname is your unique @username (e.g., @sarah). It appears in:
- Your profile URL
- Search results when people look for you
- Friend requests and mentions
Format
Tagnames are 4–20 characters, using letters, numbers, and underscores.
Auto-Generated Tagname
When you first sign up, Rippily auto-generates a tagname for you. You can change it to something more memorable at any time.
90-Day Cooldown
After your first manual change, there's a 90-day cooldown before you can change your tagname again. This prevents frequent changes that would make it hard for people to find you.
Previous Tagname Redirect
When you change your tagname, your previous one is reserved for 90 days. During that period, any links or searches using your old tagname will still find you. After 90 days, the old tagname becomes available for others to claim.
Theme
Rippily lets you choose a visual theme for your dashboard and navigation. Click the colour palette dots in the top navigation bar to open the theme picker.
| Theme | Style |
|---|---|
| Ocean | Dark purple theme (default) |
| Sangria | Dark warm-toned theme |
| Clear | Light high-contrast theme |
Your theme preference is saved to your account and applies wherever you sign in. The theme affects the dashboard, navigation, settings, and other management surfaces. It does not change the appearance of Ripples during live participation, which always use their own visual style.
