DM Sound Notifications

When you receive a direct message, Rippily plays a notification sound. This is enabled by default.

To toggle it on or off, go to your Settings page and find the Notifications section. Adjust the DM sound toggle there.

Browser Push Notifications

Push notifications let Rippily send you alerts even when the browser tab isn't active. This uses your browser's built-in notification system.

Enabling Push Notifications

  1. Go to your Settings page and scroll to the Notifications section
  2. Toggle Push notifications on
  3. Your browser will ask for permission to show notifications — click Allow

If you previously denied notification permissions, you'll need to update this in your browser settings. Look for the site permissions (usually by clicking the lock icon in the address bar).

DM Push Notifications

There's a separate toggle specifically for DM push notifications. This lets you receive push alerts for direct messages independently of other notification types.

  • Push notifications master toggle — controls all push notifications
  • DM push toggle — opt in to push notifications specifically for direct messages

Both must be enabled to receive DM push notifications. If the master toggle is off, the DM toggle has no effect.

Tips

  • If notifications aren't appearing, check that your browser hasn't blocked them for Rippily
  • On mobile browsers, push notification support varies — Chrome on Android works well, while Safari on iOS has limitations
  • You can always mute DM sounds without disabling push notifications (or vice versa)
